I'm still in the Navy. I changed my
last name in 1995 to my Mom's last
name, D'Amico. I speak Spanish and am
working on Italian. I have been
stationed on a light carrier-USS Essex
(LHD 2),went to school for radars and
got stationed on a destroyer-USS John
Young (DD 973), worked as military
police in Submarine base Point Loma
(San Diego), then to a cruiser-USS
Chosin (CG 65), and currently in hawaii
at the shipyards. I am a SPQ-9 radar
technician, fire the 5" mk54 gun
system, maintain the Harpoon missile
system, and now weld and pressure test
submarines. I have been to the persian
gulf 4 times - 3 times enforcing
sanctions against Iraq and one wartime
cruise. On my first ship we also
provided the final mission in Somalia -
extracting the coalition forces. I have
been to Australia 3 times, Singapore 4
times, Thailand once, Hong Kong once,
India once, Guam twice, India once,
Pago Pago once, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
once, and port visits in Portland and
San Fransisco. I also like to drive
cross country to just about anywhere my
little heart takes me. I have changed
considerably from the child I was in
Highschool to the man I am today. My
