Jul 02, 2003: About My School Life; My schooling and upbringing in Algonac prepared me well for the world I have been so fortunate to enjoy. Band and athletics have remained strong influences in my life as were people like Truman Pippel, George Appelman, Dick Garrett, Ann Johnson, and Alene Stewart. The memories of AHS are some of the best in my life.
Jul 02, 2003: About My Personal Life; I am currently(Sept.,2006) back in the U.S. after a 3 month stint in sw China training Chinese English teachers(listening, speaking, reading, writing and teaching methodology) from the country side who were on summer holiday. This was a very special summer since it marked my 20th year in this rural outreach project. My seventh grand child was born on Aug. 4--a girl. What a wonderful homecoming it has been. Autumn will be busy once again as Ralph and I enjoy our season tickets with the Lions and University of Michigan. Winter will once again take us back to Tucson for 4 months where we enjoy the desert, the mountains and the many unique opportunities provided by the University of Arizona. Jul 02, 2003: About My Work Life; I taught English at Pontiac Central high school for 26 years before spending the last 7 creating and coordinating a program for the gifted and talented which included unique classes offered via distance education. In addition to teaching, I coached football and baseball for 15 years. I was invited by Oakland University in 1988 to teach in a foreign language summer institute which dramatically altered the course of my life. Since retiring from public education in 1995, I have lived and taught at the high school and college levels in China for extended periods of up to a year and a half. I am currently considering another extension for the 2006-07 school year......
