- My Grandmother Passed Away
-
i am sad to tell my friends and family that my Grandmother passed away last Friday. She will be missed. Lillian Mattis-Russin, --- December 6, 1922 - February 2, 2007. renowned lyricist and special material writer, passed away last Friday evening at the age of 84. Beloved and devoted mother and best friend to her son, Ronald Jason Palmieri, cherished grandmother to Jeffrey and Kim Tinsley, Jennifer and Jon Kappelman, and Jason Tinsley, and proud great grandmother to Erika Renee, Ava Simone, Ryan Paul and Olivia Lefleur, she is also survived by her dear brother Jack Mattis, and loving sister-in-law, Mildred Mattis. Lillian's eldest son, Steven Randolph Tinsley, pre-deceased her in 1999, as did her brother Henry Matis in 1993, as did her last husband, famed jazz great, Babe Russin in 1984. Lil is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews and a large extended family, many of whom knew her as their “California Mom.” Lillian was born in New York and was the youngest child of Rose and Harry Matis. Upon her separation from her second husband in 1959, she moved to Los Angeles. Shortly thereafter, she began her long and multi-faceted career in the music industry, beginning to write special material lyrics for various artists. In the early 1960's she began her association with Jerry Lewis, writing lyrics to the tunes of Louis Yule Brown for all of his films, including great standard “We've Got A World That Swings” featured in The Nutty Professor. For the next 40 years, she served as the special material writer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual telethon, writing lyrics for such artists as Sammy Davis, Jr., and Frank Sinatra. In the 1960's, Lil also teamed with Academy Award winner Neal Hefti to write the lyrics for the films “Sex And The Single Girl” and “How To Murder Your Wife.” Songs from those films were recorded by multiple legends including Peggy Lee and Jack Jones. In addition, Lil and her brother Jack wrote and produced various shows in Las Vegas, which are remembered to this day. Her unbridled love for her family, music, friends and life made her a larger than life figure of proportions not often seen today. Her “Auntie Mame” flair and adventurous spirit touched so many and so deeply that it will be difficult to imagine our lives without her.

- First crush
-
I had a crush on a girl named Michelle Cowen starting in the third grade at Pincecrest Elementary school in Granada Hills, CA. Fortunately Michelle liked me too, and knowing this, our teacher paired us up for various activities. The activity that I remember most was square dancing with Michelle. I was dressed up in a cowboy shirt that my mom bought me, and we did the doe-see-doe for the parents. In the fourth grade our friends actually threw a mock wedding for us with rice and everything. In the sixth grade she was my date to a school dance. Later that same year she was also my first kiss. Ah, childhood love.

- My family relationships as an adult
-
As a kid I really didn't appreciate the hardships that my mother went through to raise me and my two siblings. Now that I am older, and have gone through my share of tough times, I now realize the incredible feat for her to provide for us financially while my father wasn't around, while trying to guide us as a parent. She was a great example, and I love her for it.

-
Our new little boy is now nearly 1 month old. It's amazing how time flies. Last night she was up in the middle of the night for 5 hours straight trying to feed the little one, put him to sleep, feed the little one, put him to sleep. It's been tough. The good news is that the little guy is growing well thanks to his wonderful mommy. Ryan is a real cutie. I'll post some more pictures soon.

- Getting into trouble at school
-
I ditched for two days in high school and forged my mother's signature on my note to get back into school. When I presented the absence note they immediately called my mother to verify, and I got in trouble. I ended up having to go to Saturday school just like in the movie "The Breakfast Club." That was not the way I wanted to spend my Saturday.

Kim and I are proud to announce the arrival of our son, Ryan Paul Tinsley, born this morning at 10:42. He weighed 7 pounds, and is healthy and happy. The birth was easy, especially for me. Kim only had to push twice before the little one popped out. She wanted me to let everyone know that her MAC makeup held up very well, and she is clearly ready for her close up.

- My first job
-
I worked at Coco's for two weeks as a host. That job just wasn't for me. I don't know if having served two weeks really qualifies the job as my first. My first real job was as a telemarketer for a hearing aid company. I used to call older people trying to set them up for hearing tests. People always ask me if those I was calling had a hard time hearing me over the phone. I used to get paid an hourly amount, plus would earn commissions on the hearing aid sales from the hearing specialists if my appointment turned into a purchase. ;-) I was the top appointment setting in the place. I was very proud to make my $150 (with commissions) a week. The guys I worked with there were great. I would love to find them again.

- Birth of my daughter
-
My little daughter Erika was born on this day. Labor was induced late the night before, and after only an hour, my wife started having major contractions that were starting to make her uncomfotable. Fortunately they gave her something to ease the pain, and she fell asleep for the night. The next morning, everyone was excited about the pending arrival of our little one. After only about an hour and a half, my wife gave birth to our little girl weighing 6 pounds 11 ounces. It was an amazing experience.

Kim and I got married at the Hotel Bel Air on June 28, 2003. The ceremony was next to the small lake, with swans swimming by. After the ceremony, we immediately had some champagne during a cocktail hour followed by a fantastic reception. Our band was amazing which got everyone off their feet to dance. Every single person in the room that night had a great time. I'm glad that our close family and friends were able to share the day with us.

-
My daughter Erika is now 19 months. She is an adorable little sweetheart. You can see pictures of her in my photo album. She is growing so fast. She is now able to say several words, including "mama," "dada," car," "papa, and many others, but her absolute favorite word is "SOAP." She says it at least 25 times a day. It's the funniest thing in the world to me.

- Trip to Skibo Castle in Scotland
-
Kim and I attended a fundraising event in 2002. At the event I had a couple of apple martinis and was feeling great. There was a live auction that night, and when the last item was presented, the description of an amazing trip to England and Scotland got me excited. As the last auction item of the evening, the bidding was active. Perhaps it was the cocktails, but I decided to bid the next increment up, thinking that I was sure to lose as a result of the bidding interest. As soon as I bid, next thing I know all other bidding had stopped. I looked over to my then girlfriend, Kim. She had the look of shock on her face. When the final gavel came down, we were amazed to have won the trip. It didn't see real. The trip to England and Scotland were amazing. Kim and I ended up getting engaged at Skibo Castle in Scotland in November, 2002. I'll tell the story of my engagement another time.

- About My School Life
-
I had a good time in high school, and met some great people, though spending too much time with them rather than studying probably helped my grade point average slowly decline after it had been close to a 4.0. I wish I had never lost touch with my good friends from high school. I am still trying to find David Kim, David Choi, and a few others so that we can get the band together again for our 20th reunion. I have found many of my old friends, including my best friend from the 5th grade, coworkers and many others on this site - It really works.
I know my hair was a bit wild in high school. I used to try and look like Robert Smith from a band called The Cure. I guess that's what kids do. We'll see if my daughter follows in my footsteps.

- About My Personal Life
-
I am proud to be the Founder and CEO of Reunion.com, the leader in helping people stay in touch. Welcome to the Website!
I have been added as your first Address Book contact as an available resource to make sure you get the most out of this fantastic service. If you would like to remove me as a contact, click on the Address Book link, click my name, then EDIT, then DELETE. IF YOU NEED HELP, please click here to check our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). If you just want to say "hello," I would love to hear from you. If it takes me a while to get back to you, I apologize. I am getting more email messages than ever, and I am a bit behind.
HOW TO GET STARTED WITH THE SERVICE
Find people you lost touch with by using our People Search. To help you stay in touch, you'll first want to build and update your Address Book. That way, you'll be notified when anyone in your Address Book adds or updates photos, changes jobs, has a birthday, has new contact info, or shares anything else about their life as it changes.
ABOUT ME: I have been very fortunate in my life. I have a wonderful family, including a beautiful wife, whom I met at my 10-year high school reunion. We had our first baby girl February 16, 2005. I have had a successful career in the Internet industry, and am proud to run the service you are using right now. The countless stories we've received is positive evidence that we're changing lives for many people, and providing a worthwhile service that helps people stay in touch with their important relationships.

- About My Work Life
-
Reunion.com has grown quickly and steadily since we started in 2002. We believe your relationships matter, and so we are focused on helping over 28 million real people stay in touch to ensure they never lose touch with an important relationship again.
To stay in touch with your friends and family, add your photos and also make sure to keep your profile up-to-date to share what is going on in your life. If you are a Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express user, Download GoodContacts to sync your online Address Book, find out who you know is already a member, and keep their contact information up-to-date.
Before Reunion.com I was the CEO of GreatDomains.com, which was sold in October 2000 to VeriSign (VRSN). Before that I had been running a web development company called Intelligent Business Concepts which I started around 1994 or 1995.
There are a number of fantastic new projects in development that are going to make this service even more engaging and valuable for helping our members share their lives with one another, including a deepened profile, blogs, user comments, and more coming live in just a few weeks. Our members are going to love the new features.
