Reunion.com CEO Admits to Meeting His Wife at Their High School Reunion
July 18, 2005Los Angeles – July 18, 2005 – As fate would have it, Jeff Tinsley, CEO of Reunion.com, met his wife at their 10-year high school reunion. It was this encounter that not only led to wedding bells for the happy couple, but also encouraged Jeff to create Reunion.com, the leader in keeping people in touch online. Three years later, Reunion.com now has 35 million registered users and offers a wide range of services to help people find, reconnect and stay in touch with old friends, lost loves, family and all other important relationships as life changes.
With thousands of school reunions scheduled to take place this summer, people nationwide are thinking about how they look and who they’ll see. It’s the perfect time to get in shape, break out the old yearbook and prepare to possibly find one’s soul mate. In fact, Jeff and Kim’s Granada Hills High School Reunion in San Fernando Valley, Calif., allowed this storybook romance to be conceived.
“I always had a crush on Kim but never had a chance at dating her,” says Tinsley. “When I saw her again at the reunion, it was meant to be. I encourage people to think back to their high school days and try to reconnect with others from their past. You never know who you’ll run into and where it will lead you.”
Kim was the girl of every high school guy’s dreams, while Jeff was a skinny guy with wild hair and high-tech interests. Jeff never got the opportunity in high school to express his feelings for Kim, but at the reunion, he took a chance. Kim, a recruiter at a large law firm, was dragged by her sister to attend the reunion. Meanwhile, Jeff, the former CEO of GreatDomains.com who had recently sold his company to VeriSign, was debating what big project to tackle next. Since Jeff and Kim both went to the reunion just to see old friends, neither ever thought about how their lives might change as a result. At the reunion, they recognized each other immediately, spoke throughout the night and began dating shortly after. A year and a half later, while on vacation in Scotland, Jeff popped the question. The two now have their first child, a daughter born close to Valentine’s Day this year.
“If you are single, a school reunion is a perfect place to meet an old crush,” says Nancy Kalish, Ph.D., Reunion.com relationship expert and author of Lost & Found Lovers. “It’s never too late to try lighting up an old flame.”
