About My School Life

I loved High School. I loved it more than college! I loved the high enthusiasm for sports and music. I ran for office twice and held both positions, (Rally Commissioner was my fondest position),just to learn about politics. It worked. I learned great leadership skills that have really put me in head positions throughout my life. My love for sports landed me with a scholarship to San Jose State to run track. (I recently completed a marathon in Jamaica!) Mr. Pereira's strict discipline in music got me into college as a music major. (Not to mention a trip to Japan with the orchestra!) The Lowell name got me through doors I didn't know existed. I worked for years in banking and then Air Quality Management before giving up the "normal" 8 to 5 to step out on faith and "work my craft" as a musician. I haven't looked back since! I really miss having good benefits and paid vacations, but I try to eat right, live a healthy lifestyle and look at my daily life as a vacation; especially when I am on tour in Asia or Europe! I want to thank all of you who befriended me at Lowell, because you helped me learn acceptance of various cultures and diversities. Because of you, this little ghetto girl (who still lives there, by the way!) has traveled the world and experienced life in a wonderful way!

About My Personal Life

I am a dating divorcee! I think it's great to be free from a domineering partner, grown kids, and the need to please anyone else but ME! I was also a caregiver for the last 15 years! Finally, I get to pay attention to myself. It's been a long time coming. Hooray for the Senior Discounts! Time for being revered as an "Elder", as a young lady called me recently. (Oh, God, an elder!) But, I feel good, and am striving to continue to look good, too! I spend a lot of time studying music for my students, attending concerts, singing with my band and enjoying the technology of video games, computers, and movies! I love to get out in nature, by biking, walking, camping, and taking drives in the country.

About My Work Life

I have become the professional musician I always wanted to be! I currently am teaching chorus in the San Francisco and Oakland school districts, and Marin County Adult Community College. I work as Minister of Music in a Modesto Church, and I currently sing professionally with a vocal band called Chelle and Friends. (Check out "ChelleMusic" on the web and you'll see me there!)I am also a 15-year member of the a'capella group Street Sounds. As the Youth Director for the Edwin/Walter Hawkins Music and Arts Conference, I have been associated with many of Gospel's elite. Yes, I stay busy, but I love traveling, surprises, being spontaneous and having new experiences; just plain love living life. See you at the next reunion!
