on this eve of thanksgiving i relect on on my mother who has passed on to a better life. even though i miss her dearly on this holiday as i am sure my brothers and sisters do also . i remember her as extra-ordinary woman who i realize now have given me all the principles and strenght i need to make it in this life. so my motto now becomes ÿes, I can". i can do all things through christ which strenghtens me. there were times in her life as i watched go through difficult financial striaits, and i would wonder why does'nt she give up? but she never would, she would come up with some type of idea for us to make it through. Being a single mother raiseing five children, she always let us that we would need god in our lives. Sometimes our food was low and i remember her remarking to me, I can make a meal off flour and water." i asked her how, she said mix the flour and water make a pancake, and fry some flour and make gravy! every since then when my food was low i was able to put whatever is left in my pantry together in some creative recipes that became tasty meals. also i remember her hospitality she also invited people over for the holidays and a regular sunday dinner was enjoyed by all of our family friends, she gave people clothes out of her closet who were in need, and she formed a mission group with her church friends to feed the homeless and minister to thier body and souls. she taught me to share by example, having five children i remember she had one stick of gum left, and we all five begged for it, she took the piece of gum and tore it into five tiny pieces and gave us each one and i remember to this day that was the sweetest best tasting gum i ever had in my life. later in life i was to apply this same principle when she died and i was appointed executor of her estate, my brothers and sisters were fighting over who deserved more as they had more children and expenses or less , i did what my wise mother would have wanted, i divided up everything into five tiny equal pieces and gave it to them. I love u Mother!
